Arizona School Tax Credits
Arizona has authorized a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, up to $400.00 (if filing jointly, $200.00 if filing individually) as a direct tax credit. This donation goes directly to the school district to support extra-curricular activites. You can subtract that entire amount from your state tax liability.  In addition, you may also qualify for a donation as a charitable contribution on your federal tax return.
THE DETAILS: One credit of $200 is allowed for each single taxpayer OR $400 for each married couple. Credits may be used only to the extent that they reduce that tax liability to zero. However, If you have extra credit remaining, you can carry it forward for up to five years. You don't have to have a child in school to apply for the credit.
The school must use the money for extra-curricular activities, such as after-school clubs, field trips, science laboratory equipment, band uniforms, ect...
